Barrett Furniture

Barrett Furniture Barrett grew up and began his career in the manufacture of furniture in Durban, South Africa. In 1991 upon graduating from high school Barrett became apprenticed to Arnold Kaiser the German owner of the well renowned AO Kaiser’s Joinery. Arnold was a fantastic tradesman and very earnest boss who managed early on to engender an exceptional work ethic and lay a solid foundation in hand skills and traditional techniques in Barrett’s work which continues to give his furniture real value. In 1994 having finished his training Barrett was invited to work for a world class Italian Furniture Manufacturer called M&S Interiors. There he was fortunate to meet Sylvio Coppola who was a brilliant Italian craftsman. He taught Barrett the finer skills of drawing and the real art of creating fine furniture. During this time Barrett worked on as many specialty projects with Sylvio as he could, including timber wall panelling, decorative timber ceilings, staircases, balustrades and furniture. During the summer of 1998 Barrett left South Africa to visit friends in Australia. During this time he met his future wife! Thus a short holiday became a new home. Here in South Australia Barrett obtained immediate employment with Eureka Furniture where he found that he greatly developed his designing skills and continued to further his creative ability, however, longing to be his own boss Barrett started (Furniture by Barrett) in 2001. His aim has always been to produce the highest quality handcrafted furniture possible for the person who can appreciate the (art).
