About Our Vintage Mid-Century Lighting Collection
Lighting is the jewelry of a mid-century interior. Our collection of vintage table lamps and floor lighting ranges from atomic-era tension pole lamps and brass floor arc lamps to sculptural ceramic table lamps from the 1960s and 70s. We regularly stock pieces by notable makers alongside high-quality anonymous designs.
What to Look for in Vintage Lighting
• Wiring condition: Safety first. While many pieces retain their original wiring, we always recommend evaluating vintage cords for brittleness. Simple rewiring does not negatively impact the value of a mid-century lamp.
• Original shades: Lamps that retain their original fiberglass, spun resin, or period fabric shades command a premium, as shades are the first element to degrade.
• Hardware materials: High-quality mid-century lighting utilizes solid brass, chrome-plated steel, or enameled aluminum. Avoid pieces showing heavy pitting or rust on the stems.
